A Lifelong Passion for Animals

Dr. Blake Hefter's journey into veterinary medicine began long before veterinary school. As an undergraduate at CUNY Queens College, he conducted research at the prestigious Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Research Center, where he developed a deep appreciation for the science behind medicine and a meticulous approach to patient care.

Dr. Hefter earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completed his clinical year of training at Cornell University — widely regarded as one of the world's leading veterinary programs.

With over seven years of clinical experience, Dr. Hefter has built a reputation for compassionate, evidence-based care across general medicine, soft tissue surgery, orthopedic procedures, and dentistry. He founded PAWS Veterinary Center with a vision of bringing modern, low-stress veterinary medicine to the Plantation community, and today leads a team of doctors and veterinary professionals who share that mission.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Hefter is an advocate for integrative medicine and works closely with Da Cura Pets to bring acupuncture and holistic therapies to his patients.
